This sucker's electrical, but I need a nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity I need.

That's a lot of people lining up to run.

Regarding the Galaxy Nexus

Samsung® Galaxy Nexus

I want nothing more than to separate the carrier from the manufacturers. Google almost had the right idea with the Nexus One (N1) when they sold it directly at www.google.com/phone. They bungled it by not offering the same hardware on every US carrier. With the Nexus S (NS) they exclusively sold it via Best Buy. I'd bet this was in an effort have a better retail presence. This was another "almost good move" because they never offered one for every carrier (they lacked VZW). In terms of sales, the only thing the Galaxy Nexus (GN) has going for it is that it will likely be available on every US carrier. Hopefully it will be as easy to buy one off-contract on VZW as it was for me to buy the N1 direct from Google when I had ATT.

For better or worse, I think Google is willing to allow carriers to handle the release of the GN so it might have a better retail presence and be on all the big 4 carriers. Going forward, I just hope there will always be a Nexus device to buy on any carrier at any given time. If that was the case I never would have bought my neglected Droid Charge and been so resentful of it.
