Hell Night 2011

2011-12-13_17

We had a pretty good time last night.  I opted for the smoke andouille sausage while Mike went for the pasta from Hell.  My dinner was pretty hot but the pasta was ludicrously hot.  It had a raw chili pepper taste that I didn't care for but was otherwise a nicely composed dish if you can get past the mouth numbing intensity.  The scotch bonnet pepper martini was pretty gross though, I wouldn't recommend it unless you don't like your lips.

Here's an indication of how our evening went after dinner, a text conversation between my wife and myself:

Wife: Hows it going? 8:15 PM
Me: I can't find mike. 8:15 PM
Me: He jumped out of the car to puke in Cambridge while I was driving, stopped at an intersection 8:17 PM
Me: I circled around and can't find him its been like 25 minutes. I'm walking around looking for him. 8:18 PM
Me: Oh, and he doesnt have his phone. 8:20 PM
Wife: What a mess 8:22 PM
Me: I could be better, I'm not going to lie. 8:27 PM

At least he got a free T-Shirt.

Eeesh.

Christopher Martins Christmas Run for Children

This past weekend I ran a 5K in New Haven in an ongoing effort to run one "official" race a month.

I really enjoyed this one.  It wasn't too big (unlike the Manchester Road Race) and the course was okay even though there was a bit of overlap on the return leg.  It would have been cool to run around the Green a little more than we did but whatevs.

I didn't really have a goal time or pace in mind.  I just knew that I wanted to do better than my previous 5K times and run the race "hard".  I accomplished both of those tasks and nearly threw up at the finish line.  This could be because of the cold air that my lungs aren't used to breathing or possibly the lack of water I drank before the race.

This is also the first race I forgot to take a picture at the start line, so that kinda stinks.

My net time was 24:39 and my pace was 8:14 - this pleases me.

Currently not impressed

I tried to make myself like the Google Currents app but I just can't.

I can't be bothered to write in paragraphs, so here are some rattled off reasons why I don't like it.

Why are we going back to the days of syncing? Are people really offline that frequently nowadays?  Instead of creating a new app, it would have been cool if offline capabilities were added to the (already existing) Google Reader app.

It might be specific to my piece-of-junk Droid Charge but Currents is super clunky and slow...again, it might just be me so I'm giving it a pass.

When I read news, I don't want to have to "tunnel into" specific blogs, then "back out" and go back into another one.  Gimme a list in chronological order and I'll be happy.

The bottom line is Google Currents simply doesn't fit into my news consumption workflow.  Bah, I'm cranky today.

You know what is nice?  That Zite app that's only available on iOS.  It needs to hurry up and get in the Android Market.
