Spartan Beast Race Course
Here is the course of the Spartan Beast Race from last Saturday up at Mt. Killington.
This sucker's electrical, but I need a nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity I need.

I wonder if Spotify is aware of their Android app’s absolutely atrocious UI when it’s in a landscape orientation? It’s embarrassing and nearly unusable. I really, really like the service and will continue to use it but come on, the UI is terrible.
This is my lunch today. Can you tell I was running a little late this morning? The undisciplined Me would have just gone out for lunch. This is better for my health and my wallet even if it is a bit uninspired.
This afternoon I got bored so I went for a run. Halfway through I decided that the bright sun is overrated & shady trees are underrated. Would it kill anyone to put their sprinklers on so I can run through them? Just asking.
Thanks to runkeeper for their awesome app by the way. I was studying my run and found a new route I can try, an actual loop so I don’t see the same stuff twice.
I also saw another runner headed the opposite way as me. We exchanged waves. It was pretty badass.
Yesterday I ran the Iron Horse 5K in Simsbury CT. This was the second time I have ever run a 5K (or any other race for that matter). My goal was to complete it anywhere in the 30 minute range. During the race I was feeling pretty good and started hoping to finish anywhere under 30 minutes. I even would have been satisfied if my official time was 29:59.
My official race time was 30:14 so I met my initial goal but not my “adrenaline goal”. I’m still really satisfied with how I did. I ran the Max’s O’ Hartford 5k back in March and finished in 33:04. I managed to shave 2:49 minutes of of my previous “best” (first?) race time. I improved my pace by 54 seconds and I feel like that’s pretty good.
Next weekend I have my first ever 10K. Not only is it twice as long, it’s also said to be very hilly. If I survive I’ll be sure to blather on a few incoherent sentences about it next week. In the meantime I’m going to get some easy but long runs in this week and take a break a few days before the run on Sunday.
This is a lot of work just to get some free t-shirts and water bottles.
Here’s a picture from my hike in sleeping giant state park this morning. This is also a test post for twitter. Enjoy it.
